StoreHero and Triple Whale both connect to your Shopify store and your ad accounts, but they answer different questions. One tells you what you kept after every cost and what to do next week; the other tells you which ad or touchpoint earned the sale. Here's how they compare on features, cost setup and price at your revenue band, using each vendor's own pages.

Pick StoreHero if your main question is profit: what you kept after product costs, shipping, fees and ads, and what to change this week. Pick Triple Whale if you need multi-touch attribution and pixel-level customer journeys. Some Shopify brands run both.

That's the short verdict on StoreHero vs Triple Whale. We build StoreHero, so read this knowing that. Every Triple Whale fact below comes from triplewhale.com, its help centre or its Shopify App Store listing, checked on 20 October 2026, and where Triple Whale does something well we say so. What is Triple Whale?

Triple Whale calls itself "the AI operating system for ecommerce". Its core is measurement: the Triple Pixel, multi-touch attribution with eight attribution models, and Compass, which adds media mix modelling and incrementality tests on Enterprise or as an add-on. On top sits Moby, an AI agent that answers questions and, on the Automate plan, can adjust budgets, pause ads and launch campaigns within the guardrails you set. It says more than 65,000 brands use it, and it rates 4.1 from 93 reviews on the Shopify App Store.

What is StoreHero?

StoreHero is a profit platform for Shopify DTC brands and their agencies. It connects Shopify, Meta, Google, TikTok and Klaviyo into a daily P&L that runs from net sales to gross margin, contribution margin and net profit, then turns it into a ranked weekly action plan with owners. It adds annual goals split into monthly targets, profit LTV by cohort, a Creative Overview that ranks Meta ads by profit, and an MCP so Claude and ChatGPT can answer from your real numbers. It rates 5.0 on the Shopify App Store, from only 13 reviews so far, so it's the younger and smaller of the two.

StoreHero also automates answer engine optimisation (AEO), so your products show up when shoppers ask AI what to buy. StoreHero AI Search runs your buyers' questions through ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, shows where you're named against competitors, then writes the content to close the gaps and publishes it to Shopify once you approve it. Our guide to AEO explains how AI picks the brands it recommends.

StoreHero and Triple Whale compared: StoreHero answers what did we keep and what do we do this week, with a contribution margin P&L, goals, weekly actions and profit LTV, and is not an attribution tool; Triple Whale answers which ad or touchpoint drove the sale, with the Triple Pixel, attribution models, MMM and incrementality, and Moby AI

StoreHero vs Triple Whale, feature by feature

Triple Whale's column is limited to what its own pages say. Where we couldn't find a feature, we've left the cell out rather than mark it missing.

Triple Whale is broader: more integrations, more storefronts, deeper measurement and an AI that executes in ad accounts. StoreHero goes deeper on one thing, the contribution margin P&L, and what to do about it each week.

Profit and attribution are two different jobs

Take a $100 order. Product costs are $35, shipping and fulfilment $9, payment fees $3, so $53 is left before marketing. If it took $28 of ads to win that order, your contribution margin is $25, the dollars that pay your team and then become profit. Our contribution margin formula guide walks through the maths.

Attribution asks which ad, email or touchpoint deserves credit for the $28. Profit asks whether $25 an order is enough, which channels and products make it, and what to change. Triple Whale tracks profit too, including profitability by channel, campaign and ad once costs are set up, but its product is built around measurement. StoreHero is built around the P&L. We dig into the trade-off in multi-touch attribution vs profitability and ROAS vs profitability on Shopify.

Triple Whale pricing vs StoreHero pricing (as of October 2026)

StoreHero's pricing page shows a monthly price for each revenue band: $179 up to $1M, $249 for $1M–$2M, $399 for $2M–$5M, $499 for $5M–$10M, and $699–$899 up to $20M, with a 7-day free trial.

Triple Whale's pricing page sets prices by annual GMV and plan (Free, Foundation, Automate, Enterprise), but on 20 October 2026 it showed no dollar figures for any band: paid plans say "Book a walkthrough". Its Shopify App Store listing shows Foundation at $219/month and Automate at $749/month, without saying which GMV band those apply to. Paid plans are 12-month subscriptions, billed monthly or annually with two months free. The free plan includes 10 users, 12 months of data, the Triple Pixel and first- and last-click attribution.

Monthly price by annual revenue as of 20 October 2026: StoreHero $179 up to $1M, $249 for $1M to $2M, $399 for $2M to $5M, $499 for $5M to $10M, $699 to $899 for $10M to $20M; Triple Whale shows Book a walkthrough for every GMV band, with Foundation $219 and Automate $749 a month on its Shopify App Store listing
StoreHero prices from storehero.ai/pricing; Triple Whale from triplewhale.com/pricing and its Shopify App Store listing, 20 October 2026.

Worked example: a $2M Shopify brand

StoreHero sits in the $1M–$2M band at $249 a month, $2,988 a year on monthly billing. If the App Store prices applied at your GMV, Triple Whale Foundation would be $2,628 a year billed monthly or $2,190 prepaid, and Automate $8,988 or $7,490. Ask Triple Whale for a quote at your band before you compare, because its own FAQ says price moves with GMV.

Setup and cost inputs: what's synced and what you enter

The fair criticism of any profit tool, StoreHero included, is that profit is only as accurate as the costs you load. Here's what each one pulls in for you and what you still have to tell it.

  • Product costs: both import cost per item from Shopify and keep a cost history, so last year's margins don't change when a supplier price does. If you've never filled in cost per item in Shopify, you'll enter it once in either tool.
  • Shipping and fulfilment: both connect ShipStation and ShipBob for the real cost of each order. Without them, StoreHero uses packing and shipping rules, and Triple Whale uses shipping profiles, CSV upload or its API.
  • Payment fees: Triple Whale imports Shopify Payments fees and asks you to enter other gateways. StoreHero applies transaction and FX fee rules.
  • Everything else: neither tool can see your agency retainer, warehouse rent or salaries. StoreHero takes other marketing, staff and business costs by hand, CSV or Zapier; Triple Whale takes custom expenses by hand or from a synced Google Sheet.

StoreHero also filters out POS, wholesale and test orders so they don't skew online margin. The full list of sources is on our integrations page.

Does StoreHero do attribution?

No, and we'd rather say it plainly. StoreHero doesn't run a pixel or multi-touch models. It reads spend and results from each ad platform and judges them against blended numbers, such as MER and contribution margin after all marketing, which you can trust because they don't depend on who claims the sale. If you need view-through credit, post-purchase surveys, media mix modelling or incrementality tests, that's Triple Whale's home ground. Our server-side tracking guide covers the tracking side.

Who should pick which?

Decision guide: if your main question is what did we make, where, and what do we do this week, pick StoreHero; if it is which ad, channel or touchpoint gets the credit, pick Triple Whale; if it is both, run both
Pick by the question you ask most on a Monday morning.
  • Pick StoreHero if you run a Shopify brand to a profit target and want contribution margin in dollars by channel and product, goals and a forecast, profit LTV and a weekly list of actions, or if you're an agency reporting profit to clients.
  • Pick Triple Whale if you spend across many paid channels and need pixel-based journeys, multiple attribution models, MMM and incrementality, or an AI that acts inside your ad accounts. It's also the one to look at if you sell on WooCommerce, BigCommerce or Amazon as well as Shopify.

Running StoreHero and Triple Whale together

The two jobs barely overlap, so running both is straightforward. The split that works: StoreHero sets the target, the contribution margin you need this month and the total marketing spend that leaves room for, and Triple Whale's attribution decides where inside that budget the next dollar goes. Both import the same Shopify product costs, so the profit numbers should broadly agree once shipping and fees are set the same way in each. StoreHero's MCP means you can also ask Claude about your Shopify profit directly.
