Your customers have started asking AI what to buy. They type "best linen trousers for summer" into ChatGPT, ask Gemini which jeans run true to size, or read Google's AI answer before they scroll to a single link. An AI search visibility tool tells you whether your brand is in those answers, how high it sits, and who gets named instead. Most Shopify brands have no idea, because nothing in their current stack measures it.
The shift is already in the numbers. Adobe's 2025 holiday report found traffic from generative AI tools to US retail sites grew 693% year on year, and those visitors converted 31% better than other traffic. Adobe notes the base is still small, which is exactly why it's worth moving now, while few brands are working on it.
The problem is that AI answers don't work like a search results page. There's no page two. An answer names three to five brands, and if you're not one of them the shopper never hears about you. Your Google rank doesn't tell you what ChatGPT says, and ChatGPT doesn't tell you what Gemini says.
What is an AI search visibility tool?
An AI search visibility tool runs the questions your buyers ask through AI engines like ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews, then records whether your brand is named, where it ranks in the answer, and which competitors appear instead. Think of it as rank tracking for AI answers. The better tools also tell you why you're missing and what to change, which is the part that actually moves the number. If you're new to the idea, our guide to answer engine optimization (AEO) covers how AI picks the products it recommends.
Introducing StoreHero AI Search
Today we're launching StoreHero AI Search, an AI search visibility tool built for Shopify brands. It finds the questions your customers ask AI, checks how you show up on each AI engine and where you stack up against competitors, then writes and publishes the content to fix the gaps. It's live now.
Book a call and I'll run a free AI Search report on your store: the biggest questions your buyers ask ChatGPT, who it names instead of you, and the content to create first.
"We built AI Search because our customers kept asking us for it. When we looked across the brands on StoreHero, the best performers all had a real presence in AI answers, and we could see the difference it made to their profit. We wanted every brand to have access to that, not just the ones with a big agency budget." Thomas Gleeson, co-founder, StoreHero

How StoreHero AI Search works
1. Find the questions you need to win
It starts with the questions your customers ask before they buy, like "best linen trousers for summer" or "jeans that run true to size". These are grouped by topic, so you can see at a glance which product lines AI already associates with you and which it doesn't. You can add your own questions at any time, which matters when you're launching a product or pushing into a new category.

2. See how you show up on each AI engine
Every question runs on Google's AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, ChatGPT and Copilot, as often as you choose. For each one you see whether you're named and how high, next to your normal Google ranking. That side-by-side view is where the surprises are: you might be top 3 on Google but invisible on ChatGPT, and you'd never know without checking both.
The overview rolls this up into four numbers you can track over time: visibility (how often AI names you on non-branded questions), placement (your average position when it does), sentiment (how positively it talks about you) and share of voice against the competitors you track.

3. See where you stack up against competitors
A leaderboard ranks you against your competitors on every question and every engine, and shows who AI recommends instead of you. It also surfaces brands you weren't tracking at all. The brands AI recommends aren't always the ones you benchmark against in Meta or Google Ads, so this is often the first time you see your real competition for the answer.

4. Get the content written and published to Shopify
Visibility data on its own is just another dashboard. AI Search works out why you're missing, and it's usually one of three things: product pages too thin for AI to quote, too few reviews, or not being in the roundups and Reddit threads AI reads. Then it does the part most tools leave to you: it writes the content. You get researched, SEO-backed content written for your store and its products, ready to publish. Once you approve it, it goes straight to your Shopify store, and where it lands depends on the type of content. You approve it, you don't write it.

Why AI visibility matters for profit
Being recommended by ChatGPT doesn't cost you a click. Every order that comes from an AI answer is an order you didn't pay Meta or Google for, so it lands with a higher contribution margin than the same order bought through ads. You can buy your way into AI answers too, and our breakdown of whether ChatGPT ads are worth testing runs the maths, but earned visibility keeps paying without a media bill.
That's also why we built this inside StoreHero rather than as a standalone tracker. The questions worth winning first are the ones that lead to your highest-margin products, not your highest-revenue ones. If a product earns you $8 an order and another earns $24, the second one deserves the first fix. StoreHero already tracks your margin by product, so you can point the work where it pays.
The window matters too. Most brands aren't doing this yet, so the answers are still up for grabs. It's the same pattern every new channel follows: early movers get cheap attention, and the cost rises once everyone shows up. And it isn't a new channel for your team to run, because the writing and publishing is done for you.
Who StoreHero AI Search is for
AI Search is built for Shopify brands that want to show up when shoppers ask AI what to buy, without hiring an agency or a content team to do it. It's most useful if you sell in a category where people ask comparison and "best of" questions (fashion, beauty, supplements, home, outdoor), if you already rank in Google but suspect AI tells a different story, or if paid acquisition costs keep rising and you want a channel that doesn't charge per click.
If you're already using AI elsewhere in the business, it sits alongside the rest of your setup. You can connect Claude or ChatGPT to your Shopify store to work with the same data, and our roundup of the best AI tools for ecommerce covers what else is worth adding. Agencies can run AI Search across their client roster too.
Get your free AI Search report
Book a call and I'll run a free AI Search report on your store before we speak. On the call we go through three things: the biggest questions shoppers ask ChatGPT in your category, whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI name you or a competitor, and the content you need to create to win each one. If you want to go ahead, I put it on autopilot: AI Search keeps tracking those questions and writes the content for you to approve.
I'll run the report on your store and show you which questions to win, who AI names instead of you, and the content to create first. Then it runs on autopilot.

Frequently asked questions
What is an AI search visibility tool?
An AI search visibility tool runs the questions your buyers ask through AI engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews, then records whether your brand is named, where it ranks in the answer and which competitors appear instead. It's rank tracking for AI answers. Some tools, including StoreHero AI Search, also tell you why you're missing and help fix it.
How do I track my brand in ChatGPT?
You can ask ChatGPT your buyers' questions yourself and note whether your brand appears, but answers vary from one run to the next and you'd need to repeat it for every question and every AI engine. A tool like StoreHero AI Search runs the same questions on a schedule across ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Google's AI features, and tracks visibility, placement, sentiment and share of voice over time.
How much does StoreHero AI Search cost?
StoreHero AI Search is $99 a month for brands. That covers finding the questions, checking all five AI engines at the frequency you choose, the competitor leaderboard, and the content it writes and publishes to Shopify once you approve it.
Which AI engines does StoreHero AI Search check?
Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, ChatGPT and Copilot. Each question is checked on every engine and shown next to your normal Google ranking.
Do I have to write the content myself?
No. StoreHero AI Search works out why you're missing from an answer, writes the content to fix it and publishes it straight to your Shopify store. Your part is reviewing and approving it.
What happens on the call?
Before the call, Thomas runs a free AI Search report on your store. On the call he takes you through the biggest questions shoppers ask ChatGPT in your category, whether AI names you or a competitor, and the content to create first. If you go ahead, AI Search runs on autopilot, tracking those questions and writing the content for you to approve.
